Newbury College

1. The project

Newbury College is a career-focused college with a thriving campus life, located near Boston, Massachusetts. The campus is set in the beautiful, quiet community of Brookline, yet offers easy access to the big city. So for students, it really offers the best of both worlds. Newbury is well known for its culinary school, small class sizes, and focus on real-world learning that includes a strong internship program.

2. The challenge

Our challenge was twofold. First, we needed to communicate the core strengths of the college to prospective students. We needed to illustrate the advantages of being a student in Boston, while living and learning on a quiet campus. Second, our client wanted a viewbook that was inexpensive to mail and designed so that it would not date too quickly.

3. The solution

To show Newbury's ideal location, we created a rich, impactful viewbook filled with images of Boston and the Newbury campus. To highlight the real-world education, we included descriptions of unique courses as well as quotes from students and alumni—testimonials to the fact that the Newbury College is a place where real change happens. Addressing the practical considerations, we gave the viewbook a pocket to hold detailed inserts and an application. This solution allowed us to keep the viewbook itself smaller and more general in content, and it also gave prospective students a place to save any future mailings as they built a relationship with the college.
