Scott Novak
Executive Vice President
In his 15 years of educational marketing experience, Scott has been involved in numerous integrated marketing campaigns both as a project manager and as a client. Having both perspectives enables him to approach projects strategically and with a firsthand understanding of clients’ needs.
Prior to joining The Whelan Group, Scott was a Vice President at Stein Communications and a Regional Manager for ApplyYourself. Before that, he worked as Associate Director of Enrollment Marketing at Pace University and the Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications at St. John’s University.
Scott has also spoken at notable enrollment conferences such as NJACAC, NYSACAC, SACAC, and the Small College Enrollment Conference.
Scott’s driving belief is that successful student recruitment must be personalized. Students today expect individual treatment, and those institutions that don’t embrace this trend tend to fall short of their enrollment goals. Taking this as a guiding principle, his award-winning campaigns blend strategy with creativity to produce the most positive results.
Scott holds a bachelor’s degree from Susquehanna University, a master’s degree in corporate communications from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and a certificate in marketing research from the University of Georgia.

His vision for The Whelan Group:
To offer strong strategic marketing solutions for enrollment managers at an affordable price.
His least favorite phrase:
“That’s the way it’s always been done.”
His interests:
Scott enjoys spending time with his two daughters, Kaitlin and Carly, and his wife, Karen. He’s also an avid football fan, particularly of the New York Jets (because, he says, he’s “a glutton for punishment.”)
